Franchise FAQ

Here is a list of frequently asked questions JEI Learning Centers receives. Read the information below and contact our business development team (franchise@jeilearning.com) if you have any further questions.

How long has JEI been in business? JEI was established in 1977 and has been providing supplemental education services throughout Canada since 1998.

Do I need to have a background in education in order to open a JEI Learning Center? No, but some experience in the field of education and/or business is preferred. The franchisee must have at least a four-year college degree.

Are there registration or enrollment fees? Typically, the learning center will charge parents an enrollment fee per student for each newly enrolled student.

What does the franchise fee include? The initial franchise fee includes the use of the JEI brand name and its trademarks, the use of workbooks and materials, and other support. The franchise fee also includes the fee for the initial franchise training.

How much is the royalty fee? The royalty fees range from $24 - $29 per subject per month depending on the number of subjects enrolled at the center. A subject is deemed as a single JEI program taken by a student. A student can be enrolled in more than one subject at a time.

How long is the term of the JEI Franchise Agreement? The initial franchise term is for five years.

Can I run other academic programs besides JEI? We generally do not allow franchisees to offer other programs that are not provided and/or developed by JEI. A few non-competing programs may be permitted, with written approval, after a full review.
